Texas Department of Insurance eliminates paper storage costs, improves response times

Image API takes Texas Workers Comp Division paperless, digitizing over 800,000 case files

Managing paper-based case files was time-consuming at the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI). TDI was incurring more than $300,000 annually to store Worker’s Compensation files, an expense that was growing with increasing volumes and the labor it took to manage over 20,000 boxes of stored case files.  Accessing documents was difficult, and staff were struggling to respond to record requests effectively.

Image API worked with TDI to transport and digitize more than 800,000 case files on an accelerated schedule to align with the upcoming end of lease for the warehouse. Files were transported to a secure IAPI facility in order to maintain strict control and confidentiality, and every file was tracked from receipt to destruction. Over 50 million images were delivered to TDI during the project.

The solution eliminated more than $300,000 in file storage and management costs, and improved turnaround time for records requests.

The value delivered for TDI?

The solution eliminated more than $300,000 in file storage and management costs, and improved turnaround time for records requests. Staff now have instant access to case file data, and files are integrated with the line-of-business system. Files are protected from loss, record management and retention are greatly improved, and confidentiality is protected.
