Job Summary:  The Business Analyst leads the evaluation and definition of solutions that may include implementation of products, business processes, or policies through comprehensive analysis and documentation, creative problem solving, and effective leadership.  The Business Analyst is a thought leader and a mentor for the business analyst team. 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years’ business analyst experience in software development and/or consulting 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with ability to communicate requirements, results, and analysis of complex problems
  • Ability to lead meetings, prepare and deliver presentations, and resolve issues
  • Excellent group facilitation skills
  • Ability to analyze a varying range of problems and processes
  • Ability to advise product and technology teams about how a system works or should work
  • Ability to accurately capture, translate, and convey requirements to the products team
  • Ability to learn/develop new processes, and to serve as a subject matter expert for existing business processes and requirements
  • Expert knowledge of business process modeling (BPM), use case analysis, and strategies for requirements definition
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control procedures
  • Experience with change management activities including communication planning, outreach methods, and training strategies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:              

  • Lead business analysis activities, including
    • business process definition, decomposition, and modeling
    • thorough analysis and documentation of as-is and to-be processes
    • business process analysis and reengineering
  • Lead the requirements definition process through
    • collaboration with project stakeholders and effective meeting facilitation
    • identifying requirements, which may include functional, non-functional, environmental, design, and performance requirements
    • leading definition of solutions that solve business problems and meet stated objectives
  • Ensure a shared understanding of project requirements, scope, design, and usability standards through team collaboration and documentation
  • Develop and manage documentation, which may include
    • configuration requirements
    • process and activity diagrams
    • use cases and user stories
    • requirements traceability matrix
    • screen mockups
    • user guides and training materials
    • meeting minutes
  • Provide project-related activities, on-time and within budget, including
    • meeting facilitation and leadership
    • advocate for project stakeholders, and liaison between client stakeholders and project team
    • analysis, documentation, system configuration, testing, and training
    • project and product (knowledge base) documentation
    • project deployment support and facilitation
  • Demonstrate product expertise
    • design product configuration based on client requirements and system options
    • leverage system features and configuration options to optimize business processes
  • Perform project management and customer support tasks
    • establish and maintain professional, courteous and effective relationships
    • respond to client requests and meet commitments in a timely manner
    • coordinate and communicate effectively with project team, leadership, and stakeholders
    • manage issues to resolution, escalating as necessary
    • collaborate with project team to mitigate risks
  • Provide accurate estimates; manage work within stated hours and budget
  • Work efficiently, effectively, and accurately with limited supervision
  • Lead the development of best practices, standards and processes
